“Our Active Parish Church”
Welcome to the Palladian Church, which is our active parish church. Our vicar is the Reverend Liz Chilton Guest.
We are a Christian Anglican Church, operating under the Festival Church model. This means we celebrate the milestone Christian festivals during the year.
Services vary between Holy Communion Common Worship and interactive gatherings. Our vicar Liz ensures that the language of preaching and liturgy is accessible and relevant to today’s world rather than being fixed to very traditional church language.
Children are always welcome and although we do not have separate children’s activities during the services, we always try to make the services child and family friendly.

⛪ Regular Services
Third Sunday of the Month (11:30 AM)
Our regular services generally take place once a month. Services vary between Holy Communion Common Worship and interactive gatherings.
Stay for fellowship: Please do stay to enjoy tea, coffee and homemade cakes after the service.
💒 Baptisms & Weddings
We welcome baptisms and weddings, including from those who are non-resident but have a connection to the church or village or who are happy to join our congregation.
Please contact our vicar to discuss your requirements and arrange a meeting.
🕊️ Open for Private Prayer
Daily During Daylight Hours
The church is generally open every day during daylight hours for you to come and find a quiet and peaceful space or to leave a prayer for someone in your thoughts on our prayer tree.
🕍 Events & Activities
Various secular events are also held in the church during the year, many of them musical but also literary, particularly associated with one of our famous residents, George Bernard Shaw. In recent years we have run fully staged, professional plays.
Such events help us raise money to maintain our church building.

Carola Oman Tweet
Carola Oman
A famous biographer, including a much quoted and respected biographer of Nelson.
There is a memorial plaque to Carola Oman in the church.
The Church needs your help to ensure it can continue to be open and run; in the middle of the last century it was threatened with closure and becoming a second ruined church in the village. Thanks to the efforts of villagers, it was saved from this fate and money was raised for conservation work.
Its future, however, depends entirely on the efforts of volunteers and applications to grant giving bodies who are faced with many similar demands for help.
Your Support Makes a Difference
